ELYRIA — The Lorain man who twice attacked people in the bathroom of the Amherst McDonald’s was sentenced Monday to nine years in prison.
Pablo Soto, 42, pleaded guilty last month to charges of aggravated robbery, robbery and felonious assault for each of the two attacks.
Soto confessed to the two robberies, which took place Nov. 26 and 28, after his arrest by police who identified him through surveillance photos of the attacker. Police said Soto, who told officers he committed the robberies to finance his drug habit, would attack his victims from behind, knocking them to the ground. He then grabbed their wallets and fled.
The nine-year prison sentence is what Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Mark Betleski had said he intended to impose when Soto entered his plea. Prosecutors had wanted Soto to serve a longer sentence.
