Gerald W. Reeser

Gerald W. Reeser, 73, of Elyria, died at his home Monday, July 7, 2014. He was born February 21, 1941 in Elyria and was a 1959 graduate of Elyria High School.Reeser_Gerald

He was a welder and was formerly employed at the General Motors Cleveland Tank Plant. Upon the plant closing he sold insurance for Met Life and then owned a Nationwide Life Insurance Company agency. He also operated Kustard Korner on East Broad Street in Elyria and for 25 years, he was a welding instructor at Lorain County Joint Vocational School.

Jerry was a 50 year member of Elyria Masonic Lodge #787 and enjoyed working in his flower garden. He was a loving husband, companion and best friend to his wife. He had been a coach in Little League East Baseball and was an excellent father and grandpa and took great pride in following the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. His greatest accomplishments in life were caring for his family and passing his knowledge of baseball to his sons and grandsons.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (nee Wilczak); daughters, Shelly Arida and Renee (Mike) McFrederick, both of Elyria; sons, Randy (Julia) Reeser of Atlanta, Georgia, Rodney (John) Reeser Marcotte of St. Petersburg, Florida and Rex Reeser of Elyria; grandchildren, Mathew and Benjamin McFrederick, Darlene (Tim) Haggard and Kamie Reeser; and a sister, Sylvia (Jeffrey) Jacobson of Loudon, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Lucille Reeser.

Friends will be received Tuesday, July 15, 2014 form 5 to 7 P.M. at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A memorial service will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home, with Reverend Mark Oster officiating. A private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
