ELYRIA — A city man beaten by a Lorain County Jail guard in 2012 is in trouble with the law again.

Jordan Sand is accused of spitting blood at a police officer while being booked at the Police Department on Thursday morning, according to police Lt. Jason Cunningham. A police report was unavailable Thursday night, but Cunningham said about 6 a.m. police were called to a disturbance on Seventh Street.

Sand, 20, was arrested and charged with obstructing official business, criminal damaging and resisting arrest. The spitting allegations led to charges of felonious assault and harassment by an inmate.

County jail surveillance video showed guard Marlon Taylor beating Sand in 2012. Taylor in January was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.

Sand, of the 100 block of South Abbe Road, received a $50,000 settlement after filing a federal civil rights lawsuit. Sand was being held without bond Thursday night and is due in Elyria Municipal Court today.
