James E. Otto, 80, died at 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born March 27, 1934, in Dixon, Illinois, to the late Harry G. and Alice (Beede) Otto.
Jim worked for 43 years with the F.W. Woolworth Co., retiring in 1996 as a district manager. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
On October 4, 1958, he married the former Charlotte M. Yurick, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Steven James Otto of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law, Connie M. (Gary A.) Calabrese of Elyria; grandchildren, Samantha N. Calabrese and Corey J. Calabrese, both of Elyria; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Isabella Calabrese; a brother, Richard Otto of Amboy, Illinois; sisters, Alice Bowers of Dixon, Illinois and Olive Bernardin of Rochelle, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved family pet “Matilda.”
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Charles Otto of Amboy, Illinois; and a sister, Francis M. Pitzer of Dixon, Illinois.
At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
