Edward H. Napier, 73, of Henrietta Township, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, following a lengthily illness. He was born September 21, 1940 in Logan County, West Virginia. Edward came to Ohio as a young man and had made his home in Henrietta Township for the last 20 years.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Brook Park for 38 years, before retiring in 1995 as a tool crib room Manager. Edward was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking and camping.
Survivors include his son, Edward H. Napier, Jr. of North Ridgeville; daughters, Patricia A. Smith and Regina D. Malleo, both of Parma; grandchildren, Laura, Emily, Heather; three great grandchildren, Kayla, Jeremia and Gavin; brother, Johnny Napier of Ohio; sisters, Patricia McEntire of Avon, Carol Nichols, Darelene Price and Mabel Bineger, all of Alabama; his companion for seven and a half years, Amanda Johnson; and his faithful dog, Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Nancy J. Napier (nee Montgomery) on September 1, 1993; his second wife of four years, Shirley B. Ooten-Napier (nee McDonald) on May 26, 2007; brother, Thomas Napier; sister, Fern Noel and his parents, James and Martha Napier (nee Jarell).
Friends may call Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Reverend Jayson Samons, Pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
