OBIT FLAGCollins_JamesJames M. Collins, 84, of Elyria, passed away at his home Saturday, July 12, 2014. Jim was born November 24, 1929 in Wartburg, Tennessee and lived in Spring City, Tennessee.

He worked for 26 years at General Motors in Elyria. Jim enjoyed playing cards, gardening, working on his cars and watching TV, especially Western movies. He was a proud Army veteran having served in Company B during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of VFW Post 1079 in Elyria.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cora Collins; one sister Ruth, and two brothers, Richard and Raymond.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth (nee Baldwin); daughter, Melissa; sons, James A. of Texas and Martin W. (Sue) of Lakewood; step daughter, Valerie Gaitan (nee Heffley) (Edward); grandchildren, Cassie Stephens, Rachael Malloy, Lisa Collins, Hayden Collins and Austin Gaitan; and one great grandson, Benjamin Stephens; he is also survived by his brothers, John and Joseph Collins; sister, Mary Garrett and many nieces and nephews; along with his good friend, John Malloy.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Wyers-Bollinger Funeral Chapel, 2900 N. Ridge Rd., Sheffield Township, Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 11A.M. to 12 Noon at which time there will be a military service conducted by the members of VFW Post 1079. Jim’s urn will be placed in the columbaria at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Wounded Warriors in Jim’s name.
