Marion M. Schuehrer, 73, of Sheffield Township, passed away peacefully at her residence on the evening of Sunday, July 13, 2014 following an extended illness. She was born in North Ridgeville on August 2, 1940 and had been a resident of Sheffield Township since 1968, coming from Westlake.
Marion was a graduate of Westlake High School; in her earlier years she was employed as secretary and administrative assistant. In 1968 she joined her late sister in the establishment of Miss Esther’s Kinder-Care. They jointly ran the Sheffield Township day-care facility for 38 years until the school’s closing in 2005.
Miss Schuehrer was an accomplished baker as well as an avid reader who possessed a special interest in mystery novels She also displayed a love of cultural activities including classical music, the theater and the performing arts.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews along with her extended special family.
Marion was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Schuehrer; her mother, Maria (nee Mueller) Schuehrer; her brother, John; and by sisters, Hilda and Esther.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 6 until 9 P.M. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 17, 2014 at a time to be announced in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Field’s Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
The family suggests memorial contributions to either the Educational Programs of the Lorain Public Library, the Stocker Center for the Performing Arts or to Mercy New Life Hospice.
