John Thomas Livingston III

Livingston_JohnJohn Thomas Livingston III, 78, of South Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, following a lengthy illness. He was born November 25, 1935 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to John and Emma Rose Livingston (nee Retoric).

He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Avon for 31 years, before retiring as a spray painter. After retirement, he drove cars for Joe Firment in Lorain.

John was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in South Amherst. He was a member of Stonington Masonic Lodge 503 in Amherst. John enjoyed spending time with family and especially loved seeing his grandchildren. He and his wife, Rosemarie, raised four sons together. Throughout the years, he never missed a game for any sporting activity they participated in. In his spare time, he could be found playing cards and rooting on Ohio State. John was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, serving for eight years as an air policeman. He also coached summer baseball.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rosemarie Sabo Livingston; his four sons, John Thomas IV (Carol) of Orlando, Florida, Ronald Allen (Shelly) of Lorain, Jeffrey Alex of South Carolina and Randy Lee (Kelly) of Taylorsville, Kentucky; sister, Joyce Asberry; seven grandchildren, Josh, Chelsea, Crystal, Gage, Casey, Brett and Ryan; great grandson, Josiah; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma Rose Livingston.

Friends may call Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. A memorial service with the Hospice of Western Reserve will be held at 7 P.M., with the Pastor Jeffrey Sweitzer, officiating. A Masonic Service by the Stonington Masonic Lodge #503 will be held at 7:30 P.M. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ames House Hospice Facility, 30080 Hospice Way, Westlake, OH 44145; Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110.
