Man allegedly breaks into ex-girlfriend’s house

ELYRIA — Police said a man punched in his ex-girlfriend’s dining room window, cooked a few pot pies in the oven and fell asleep on her bed where officers found him Tuesday.

Damarcus Moore, 25, was charged with burglary about 10 p.m. at his ex-girlfriend’s house in the 1100 block of Melvyn Lane.

After receiving a call, police arrived at the house to find a broken dining room window and a burning smell coming from the kitchen, according to a police report. The owner of the house, Moore’s ex-girlfriend, was in the hospital at the time.

Police went into the kitchen where a broiler was turned on high and a few pot pies, still in their plastic wrapping, were cooking in the oven, according to the report. Moore was found asleep in a bed upstairs.

A neighbor told police she saw Moore wandering around the property earlier in the evening and watched him punch a hole through a window.

Moore, who had a minor cut on his hand, was taken to Lorain County Jail where he was held until he was released on bond Wednesday.
