Vincent E. Young

OBIT FLAGVincent E. Young, 85, of Sheffield Village and formerly of Berea, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 following a brief illness. He was born November 9, 1928 in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Vincent served in the United States Army. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Rutgers University and a Law Degree from Capital University in Columbus. Vincent was employed at Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, where he met his wife Laurie and SOHIO (later became BP) working in the Patents and Licensing Division. He traveled to various countries for work negotiating contracts. He enjoyed table tennis and filled in at the Municipal Court in Berea as Acting Judge.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laurene of Sheffield Village; son, Edward Young of Columbia Station; and brother, Gerald of Edison, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas.

A Memorial Gathering will be 4 to 6 P.M., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Berea United Methodist Church, 170 Seminary Street, Berea. A Memorial Service will be 11 A.M., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Community Center of Wesleyan Meadows, 5400 Meadow Lane Court, Sheffield Village. Reverend Dr. Richard Parks will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Vince’s memory are suggested to go to the nonprofit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which focuses on Blood Cancer Research at www.lls.org
