LORAIN — Businesses in the 1610 block of Cooper Foster Road were forced to close Friday after a Ford SUV slammed into a building.

According to the Lorain Fire Department, about 2:50 p.m., a vehicle crashed into a professional/commercial building at 1618 Cooper Foster Road.

The Lorain County auditor’s website states the property is owned by Ecker Professional Arts Plaza Inc. and houses the Center for Hearing Care.

Assistant Fire Chief Roy Cochran said there were people inside, but no one was injured.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were treated and released at the scene.

Damage to the building had not been assessed, but Cochran said it was “substantial.”

Cochran said the Lorain Police Department will decide if charges are filed against the vehicle’s driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
