Troy Zeward Sipes, 81, of Elyria, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at West Bay Health Center in Westlake, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia and had been a resident of Elyria until moving to Westlake in 2004. He previously lived in North Ridgeville, where he resided for many years.
Mr. Sipes worked as a custodian for North Ridgeville City Schools. He was a former member of Cathedral of Life and an Ordained Minister at the Church of God. Troy was a Cleveland Browns fan, a great storyteller and was an avid deer hunter, still longing to get into the woods even in his later years.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Sipes; siblings, Linda Sipes, Sherri Shamlin, Corean Rowan, Billy Sipes, Waneata Cappotto, Roy Sipes, Stella Springer and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Linger and Fern White; parents, Oreval and Icey (nee Tenny) Sipes.
Friends may call Monday, July 21, 2014 from 10:30 A.M. until the time of services at 11:30 A.M. at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Father Bob Franco will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
