Rebecca A. Renz (nee Meldrum), 94, of Westlake, formerly of Elyria, passed away at her home Sunday, July 20, 2014. She was born in England March 18, 1920 to Andrew and Nancy Meldrum (nee Cato) and came to this country at age 5.
She graduated from Elyria High School in 1937. Becky was a volunteer at Elyria Memorial Hospital for 18 years and past president of Forthers. She worked on many Elyria Rotary projects and the Elyria Apple Festival with her husband, Ray Renz. She was a Paul Harris Fellow.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening and antiques and working estate sales for Rockwood Sales.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Francis Jay Nemecek, Sr. and her second husband Ray; her parents, Andrew and Nancy Meldrum; her brothers, Andrew, Freddie and William; and her sister, Jessie Robertson.
She leaves behind her son, Frank Nemecek (Marie); her daughter, Karen Buddie (Gary); her sons, Jim Renz (Bonnie) and Bill Renz (Susan); her grandchildren, Scott Buddie, Kevin Buddie (Karen), Tracy Hoydic (David); Todd Nemecek (Kim); Laura Lange (Jeff); Tim Nemecek; Jennifer Wilms; David Renz; Becky Goodman (Brian); Jeff Renz (Jennifer); Julie Ketrick (BJ); Chrisitina Geiss (Pete); 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 4 until 8 P.M., in the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd. North Olmsted. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 25, 2014, at 10 A.M., in the Westwood Abbey Mausoleum in Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted.
