Ruth S. Schwedt (nee Wurl), 88, Amherst, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Amherst Retirement Center in Amherst, following a lengthy illness. She was born May 17, 1926 in Buffalo, New York and moved to Ohio in 1952.
Ruth was employed at the May Company in the Sheffield Center for 23 years as a cashier. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Elyria Township. She enjoyed taking walks with her grandchildren, bowling, dancing, camping and playing Bridge.
Mrs. Schwedt is survived by her children, Nancy Moes (Robert) of Fostoria, Richard Schwedt (Judith) of Brook Park, Robert Schwedt of Elyria and Deanne King (Jeffrey) of Elyria; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and expecting two more; brothers, Bruce Wurl (Gloria) of Lakewood and Ronald Wurl of Brookfield, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George (1999); and grandson, Robby Schwedt (1982).
A private graveside service will be held in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. The Reverend Gary Lunsford will officiate.
