E. Alice Given (nee Vanover), 87, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville, following a brief illness. She was born June 20, 1927 in Terryville, Kentucky and was an Elyria resident for most of her life.
Alice worked as a lab technician at Gilford/Corning Laboratories in Oberlin for 27 years, retiring in 1990. She was a lifetime member of the former Spring Valley Grace Brethren Church in Elyria and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Charles) Lynch of Glenburnie, Maryland and Wenday (Bruno) Kudrecki of Santa Fe Springs, California; sons, Gilbert L. Given, Jr. (Judy) of Nashville, Tennessee, F. Scott Given (Jedonne) of Cottontown, Tennessee and Robert A. Given (Cathy) of Elyria; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. “Bob” Given in 2006; three sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Reverend Jeff Brown will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
