Amie Lue Harris (nee Jackson), 84, of Oberlin made her peaceful transition on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in the Welcome Nursing Home, Oberlin, following a long illness. She was born and raised Myrtlewood Alabama, coming to Oberlin in 1958 .
Mrs. Harris was employed as domestic worker for the Oberlin Inn in the Housekeeping Department for 28 years. A member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oberlin, she enjoyed singing, cooking, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be sadly miss by her daughters, Peggy (Gary) Rucker, Carla (George) Locklear and Belinda (Duane) Anderson all of Oberlin; son, Curtiss (Shalana) Harris of Berea; sister, Martha L. (Coleman) Edwards of Oberlin; brothers, Lee-Dell (Lois) Jackson of St. Louis, Missouri, Herman L. (Mary) Jackson of Atlanta Georgia and Roy (Sarah) Jackson of Oberlin; her aunt, Mae Pearl Jones (102) of Demopolis Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Harris; parents, Willie and Annie Lee Jackson; daughters, Juanita Jackson-Morgan and Evelene Bohannon; brothers, James, Jessie, William Jackson; granddaughters, Chalcedany and Dorcas Morgan; and grandson, Jayvion Smith.
Friends may call Tuesday, August 5, 2014, in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oberlin, 185 S. Pleasant St., from 10 A.M., until time of service at 11 A.M. The Reverend Fred Bell, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Westwood Cemetery Oberlin.
