Robert and Myrna Lindquist, of Elyria, will celebrate their
70th wedding anniversary on Aug. 5, 2014. The couple met on
a blind date at Miami University. They married during one of
Robert’s brief military leaves. The Rev. Homer Courtney performed
the ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in
Myrna successfully raised five children while working at JC
Penney, from which she retired in 1983. In her spare time, she
enjoys playing cards, reading, sewing, and spending time with
friends and family. It’s said, Myrna has a smile that lights up
Robert retired in 1985 from Ford Motor Company as an
industrial engineer. He also served as an aviation radio airman
first class in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving on blimps.
Robert is a graduate of Bowling Green State University. He has
always enjoyed woodworking projects and continues to enjoy
golfing, reading, completing puzzles, playing cards and spending
time with friends and family.
Robert and Myrna are members of the First United
Methodist Church in Elyria. They have five children, Sandra
(Craig) Koontz of Swansea, Illinois, Patricia (James) Trocchio
of Ashtabula, Rebecca (Bill) Voit of Elyria, Steve (Kim)
Lindquist of Greenville, South Carolina, Michael Lindquist
(deceased); nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Their 70th anniversary will proudly be celebrated in
Geneva-on-the-Lake with family.
