Driver in I-90 head-on crash upgraded to fair condition

SHEFFIELD VILLAGE – One man has been released from the hospital and another is in fair condition following a head-on crash on Interstate 90 last week.

The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. last week when Kevin Mchue, 25, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on I-90 near the French Creek Road overpass. According to Sheffield Village Chief Larry Bliss, Mchue bumped into another car also going westbound, causing him to lose control and cross over the median, where he crashed head on into Adam Couture, 21, who was driving a Chevrolet Cruze eastbound in the same area.

The two men were trapped in their cars for about an hour before they were freed around 11:45 a.m. Both were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

Couture has been released from the hospital and Mchue was in fair condition on Tuesday evening.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

I am curious to know what caused someone to hit another car then go left of center (so to speak) on such a clear dry day.

I have my assumptions, but I won’t say them until I know for sure.

Interested in how he ‘bumps’ a car on the highway. Any word on that? A simple ‘bump’ shouldn’t cause this much damage and tie up 1000′s of people who were on the highway.
