LORAIN — Four Lorain teenagers are accused of setting fire to a playground at Repco Park at Clifton Avenue and East 30th Street about 7:15 p.m. Monday.

No one was hurt, and the fire caused minor damage, said Assistant Fire Chief Roy Cochran.

Chevon Goodwin admitted to starting the fire with three juvenile girls, a police report said. The fire was started in a cardboard box.

The juveniles were charged with arson. Goodwin, 19, of the 600 block of West 18th Street, was charged with arson and contributing to the delinquency of a child.

Goodwin was free on bond Tuesday night. Information on her next court date was unavailable.

If it caused minor damage I would take a guess and say it was wood mulch in the playground. If it was rubber mulch it would have been a total loss.

Let’s hope that juvenile court, and adult criminal court for Chevron, give these miscreants something to think about; no namby-pamby kid glove treatment.

I wonder what are the ages the minors. I ask because depending on their ages, that could say a lot about this 19 year young lady.
