Terrance King, 35, of Lorain was charged with having weapons under disability, carrying concealed weapons and inducing panic at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday on Elyria Avenue near East 21st Street.
Police arrived at the area after getting a call that King was near the fire station, waving a gun around and pointing it at a fire truck, according to a police report. Officers saw King running northbound on Elyria Avenue before noticing police and slowing to walk back southbound on Elyria Avenue.
Officers surrounded King and he put his hands in his pockets, pulled out a pistol and threw it into the grass, according to the report. Police took him into custody and found the pistol with five rounds inside in the grass.
King has had run-ins with police before. In 2004 he was sentenced to a year in prison for assaulting a police officer, attempting to tamper with evidence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.
