UPDATED: Reports of Nagel Road reopening were premature

AVON – Nagel Road is still closed while crews fix a gas leak.

According to Mayor Bryan Jensen, crews thought the situation was under control but the leak has not been repaired and work is still being done to fix the leak.

Construction crews working on Nagel Road hit a gas line earlier in the afternoon and the fire department was on scene monitoring the situation. The road was closed to all traffic between Schwartz and Detroit roads.

Nagel Road is currently under construction and only open to southbound traffic as crews widen and repave the road between Schwartz and Detroit roads.

Crews are also installing a 36-inch storm sewer from Hawkesbury Court north to the Hurst Tole ditch. Work is expected to be underway for four to six weeks.

AVON – Nagel Road has been reopened to southbound traffic after a gas leak.

Construction crews working on Nagel Road hit a gas line earlier in the afternoon and the Fire Department was on scene monitoring the situation. The road was closed to all traffic between Schwartz and Detroit roads.

Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen said the the Avon Fire Department left the scene shortly after 4:45 p.m. and the road opened shortly after their departure.

AVON – Construction crews working on Nagel Road hit a gas line this afternoon.

According to Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen, the Avon Fire Department is on the scene and monitoring the situation.

Nagel Road is currently closed to all traffic between Schwartz and Detroit roads.

“Crews are working on this gas line repair and they hope to have Nagel Road opened to southbound traffic in approximately two hours,” Jensen said in an email message.
