Ruth K. Farkas, 87, of Amherst, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014, at New Life Residential Hospice Center in Lorain. She was born February 21, 1927 in Elyria, to George and Catherine (nee Myers) Hollingsworth.
Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, where she was an active member of the Parish for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and the outdoors and spent many summers in Pennsylvania. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph; son, Michael (Robyn) of Pellston, Michigan; daughters, Kathy (Glenn) Flynn of Amherst, and Maryann (Dr. Nick) Ksenich of Avon; grandmother and great-grandmother of many and her sister, Betty Botamer of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph; parents, George and Catherine Hollingsworth; and her sister, Florence Seghy.
The Farkas family will receive friends Tuesday, August 12, 2014, from 5 until 8 P.M., in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, where closing prayers will be held Wednesday, August 13, at 9:15 A.M., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
