Brenda Lee Johnson, 61, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in the Mercy Hospital, following a long illness. She was born in Winchester, Tennessee, coming to Elyria 60 years ago.
A graduate of Elyria High School. She was employed at the Jack Knight Dry Cleaners as a steam presser. She attended the Original Church of God and was a former member of the Brunswick bowling team. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, sewing and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Laquenta S. Johnson of Elyria; grandsons, Antonio D. Ball, Daquan M. Johnson and Davyion Lee Donald, all of Elyria; father, Gerald Childress, Sr. of Elyria; sister, Beverly (Charles) Taylor of Elyria; brothers, Gerald (Lucy) Childress, Jr. of Mansfield, Michael (Erica) Childress of Elyria and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Floria Childress; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Minister Elia Taylor.
Memorial services will be held Friday, August 15, 2014 from 5 P.M. until time of service at 5:30 P.M. in the Original Church of God, 312 Edward Street, Elyria. Minister Angela and Kirk will give words of comfort and Pastor E.J. McKinney will officiate.
