Lawrence F. Schubert, 92 years old, of Elyria, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Mr. Schubert was born in Pittsfield Township, on July 22, 1922 and lived in Elyria since 1947.
He was a graduate of Oberlin High School with the class of 1940 and he was self-employed in a trucking and excavating company for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. Jude Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He enjoyed farming, camping, and family.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas of Thailand and Dennis (Sue) of Elyria; two daughters, Susan (Richard) Lantz of Goodyear, Arizona and Margie (Sheila) Schubert of Elyria; two grandchildren, Sean Schubert and Rhonda Keim; three great grandchildren, Christopher Schubert, Kara Keim, and Paige Keim; one brother, Ralph Schubert of San Jose, California; and uncle to sixteen nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret H. (nee Hornyak) in 2000; one brother, Gerald Schubert; one sister Leonarda Salvator; and his parents, Homer and Josephine (nee Schuster) Schubert.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2 until 5 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Monday, August 18, 2014, at 9:30 A.M., followed by mass at 10 A.M., at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria. The Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pittsfield East Cemetery, Pittsfield Township.
