Ava Wahneva Folk

Folk_AvaAva Wahneva Folk (nee Smith), 91, of Elyria, died Saturday, August 16, 2014, in her home. She was born April 26, 1923 in Coxs Mills, Gilmer County, West Virginia.

She was a 1943 graduate of Tanner High School, Tanner, West Virginia. Shortly after graduation, Ava moved to Elyria and also lived in Bowling Green and Olmsted Falls. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed water walking.

Ava is survived by daughters, Nancy (Bill) Lehman of North Ridgeville and Pamela Folk of Elyria; son, Thomas Folk of Elyria; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Mary Louise (Ken) Starett of Elyria and Loretta (Ed) McElwee of Lost Creek, West Virginia; brothers, Ford Smith of North Ridgeville and Virgil (June) Smith of Grafton.

Ava was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Folk in 1992; daughter, Linda Porozynski in 2013; sisters, Lucille Butler in 2009 and Wilma Cather in 2014; brothers, Robert Don Smith in 1953, Melvin Layke Smith in 1969, Richard Dean Smith in 1991, Willard Cline Smith in 2000, Adrian Paige Smith in 2007 and Levi Ruble Smith in 2008.

Friends will be received Tuesday, August 19, 2014, from 4 until 8 P.M., at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Avenue, Elyria. A service will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at 10 A.M., in the funeral home, with Pastor Larry Starett officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
