Evelyn M. Kattas (nee Gavigan), 86, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain. Evelyn was born May 7, 1928 in Cleveland, moving to Lorain at the age 27. She married Edmond Kattas on September 18, 1955, and they raised three daughters together.
Evelyn worked at Pizza Hut in Lorain as a waitress for 10 years and volunteered at Community Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer and a social member of the IAV. Evelyn enjoyed gambling, casino trips, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edmond Kattas of Lorain; daughters, Kathy Kattas of Lorain, Nancy Ciccarelli of Plant City, Florida and Sandy Jacovetti of North Olmsted; grandchildren, Daniel Szabo, Kristen Jacovetti, Stacey Jacovetti, and Sarah Lash and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Bridget (nee Kreavec) Gavigan.
The family will receive friends at Reidy- Scanlan- Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, (440) 244-1961, Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 1 until 3 and 6 until 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, 10 A.M., Friday, August 22, 2014. Burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in AmherstTownship.
