WESTLAKE – Police are still searching for the knife that a Westlake man allegedly used to repeatedly stab his parents Monday evening.

Kim Jaworski, 58, was in critical condition and Carol Jaworski, 56, was in fair condition on Wednesday at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after they were stabbed repeatedly by their 22-year-old son, Robert Jaworski, on Monday evening, according to police.

Robert Jaworksi was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. Monday, an hour after police received a 911 call from his parents. He has since been charged with felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

The call came in around 10:20 p.m. the same night from 27965 Southbridge Drive. After an initial hang-up call, in which someone could be heard yelling, dispatch called back and got in touch with Carol Jaworski, who said that her son had cut both herself and her husband, Kim Jaworski, with a knife, according to a court document.

Police from Westlake, North Olmsted, Rocky River and Bay Village responded to the house, where they found both Carol and Kim Jaworski still conscious. Kim Jaworksi had life-threatening injuries, according to a press release. The couple was transported to St. John Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to MetroHealth while police searched for their son.

After allegedly stabbing his parents, Robert Jaworski threw the weapon away and ran from the house, according to Westlake Police Capt. Guy Turner. Police found him walking a few blocks away, near the intersection of Porter Road and Lansing Drive. Robert Jaworski admitted to stabbing his parents and throwing the knife away “somewhere in the area,” according to a court document.

Police searched the neighborhood but did not find the knife, Turner said.

Robert Jaworski said he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the stabbing and had a “flat affect” during police questioning, according to Turner.

He pleaded not guilty at Rocky River Municipal Court on Wednesday and was being held on a $225,000 bond at Westlake City Jail. His next hearing is at 9 a.m. Aug. 26 in Rocky River Municipal Court.
