An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a fugitive sex offender who was just added to the “Agonizing 8” list on Thursday.
Dana Woods, 47, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at 8 a.m. Friday at a residence on the 400 block of West 11th Street in Elyria, according to a press release..
Woods was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender in Lorain County after he was convicted of gross sexual imposition in 2006 for sexually assaulting a child younger than 12.
The task force took on the fugitive investigation earlier this week, and added him to the list of most wanted sexual offenders yesterday.
The task force received a tip early Friday morning with the location where Woods was residing, and immediately responded, according to the release. Woods was located at the residence and arrested without incident. He was transported to the Lorain County Jail.
“This is another great example of the success of our coordination with the media and the public leading directly to the arrest of a dangerous sex offender,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said. “Working together we are making a difference in our communities.”
Anyone with information about the remaining fugitives should call the task force at (866) 4WANTED. Tipsters may remain anonymous and the task force may offer cash rewards for information.
