Richard W. Vietzen, Sr. (Wiener), 76, of Elyria, passed away at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Monday, August 25, 2014 following a long illness. Mr. Vietzen was born September 3, 1937 in Elyria and lived here all of his life.
He was retired from York International. A member of the Amvets Post 32 and the Elyria Eagles, he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, working crossword puzzles and watching the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon (nee McCarthy) Vietzen; son, Richard (Catherine) Vietzen of Amherst; daughters, Mary Ann (Bernie) O’Donnell, Kathleen (Terry Evans) Mezlak and Erin (John) Stefek, all of Elyria; grandchildren, Brett Vietzen, Abbey O’Donnell, Lauren Stefek, Ryan Vietzen and Nichole Vietzen; and two great-grandchildren; sister, Judith Landin of Wellington; and a brother, Robert Vietzen of Elyria.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 5 to 7 P.M. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 11 A.M., with Joe Lacinak officiating. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
