Driver sought in bicycle hit-and-run

LORAIN — A driver who hit a bicyclist Friday evening kept on driving, leaving the biker lying in the road in critical condition.

Police are looking for the driver who was in an older-model Nissan Pathfinder or a similar-looking vehicle Friday.

According to a release, the driver was westbound on West 20th Street about 6:30 p.m. and struck Eric Glenn, 39, of Lorain, who was riding his bike without a helmet near the 600 block of West 20th Street.

The crash threw Glenn from his bike, and he landed in the road while the driver continued.

Glenn was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland with critical injuries Friday.

Police are looking for the driver of the SUV and ask that anyone with information call the Lorain Police Department Traffic Bureau at (440) 204-2115.

Apparently riding a bicycle in Lorain is hazardous to your health.

Good Lord, I don’t think bicycle helmets even existed back when I grew up! How did we ever make it?

Nor did we have seatbelts, airbags and the schools allowed us to have cookies with pink icing on them too.
