He was born March 13, 1934, in Big Vein, Virginia and lived in Grafton since 2004, moving from LaGrange and North Ridgeville.
Franklin was a U.S. Army Veteran and was employed in shipping and receiving at the Brook Park Ford Plant, retiring in 1995, after 38 years of service. He was a former member of the North Ridgeville Church of God, where he was part of the Senior Fellowship Group, serving as co-vice president with his wife, Eunice in 1995, and was an active member of the LaGrange Church of God. To the children of the church, he was known as the “Candy Man”, never without his bag of suckers he would pass out to them.
Franklin enjoyed watching Westerns, walking the mall, spending Saturdays “bumming” around at flea markets and garage sales. He enjoyed fishing with his church buddies and was known for his Christian design baseball caps.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Eunice (nee Bowles); son, Michael (Seham) Dawson of North Ridgeville; daughters, Teri (Kim) Williams of North Carolina and Cindy (Ron) Fadenholz of LaGrange; nine grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rosa (nee Thomas) Dawson; five sisters and nine brothers.
