Nicholas Glemza, 81, of Cox Creek, Kentucky, for the past five years (formerly of Lorain for the previous 50 years), passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, at Kindred Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky, following a short illness. He was born July 26, 1933 in Centerville, Pennsylvania.
Nick was a Corporal in the U.S. Army, and served during The Korean War. He worked as a millwright for 30 years at Poly One in Avon Lake. Nick was a great story teller. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching classic movies, and tinkering around the house. Nick will be greatly missed by his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Isabelle (nee Campbell); two sons, Nicholas James Glemza (Donna) of Bardstown, Kentucky, John Michael Glemza (Suzanne) of Elyria. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Joshua Glemza, Sadie Glemza, Nicole Glemza, and Jaclyn Hinkle; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Malinky, Alyssa Johnson, Haley Blake; a brother, Frank Glemza (Virginia) of Bell, California.
Nick was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tina Rose Glemza; his parents, Alex and Sophia (nee Durdin) Glemza (both of Lithuanian descent); four brothers, Mike, Anthony, Pete, George; two sisters, Stella and Sophia.
Family will receive friends 4 until 7 P.M., Thursday, September 4, 2014, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria (440)322-4626, where funeral services will be at 10 A.M., Friday, September 5, 2014. The Reverend Father John P. Seabold, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township, where AMVETS Post #32 will provide full military honors.
