ELYRIA — A woman told police a man jumped in front of her and stabbed her in the leg as she walked in a wooded area Thursday.
Around 12:45 p.m., a 40-year-old Elyria woman told police she was walking down Middle Avenue on her way to court when, in an attempt to get out of the cold, she walked into a wooded area near Colonial Oaks and Wood Street.
She told police that a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt jumped out in front of her, told her to give him her purse and stabbed her in the leg before running away with the purse.
The woman was taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center with minor injuries, Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said.
Costantino added that the investigation is ongoing and if anyone has any further information, he or she should come to the police.
