UPDATE: Charges against Roberts were dropped by prosecutors in June 2014 after the victim recanted the allegations against him, according to Lorain County Common Pleas Court records.
ELYRIA — An Oberlin man was indicted Wednesday on rape charges for allegedly forcing a teenage girl to perform sex acts with him for a period of two years.
Matthew Roberts, 35, 100 block of Reserve Avenue, was indicted on two counts of rape, four counts of sexual battery and three counts of gross sexual imposition by a Lorain County grand jury.
Police began an investigation of Roberts in May after the girl reported that Roberts made her perform sex acts with him several times since the summer of 2011.
Roberts, who was questioned by police in May, denied the allegations but said he had been sexually abused when he was young by men his mother brought home from the bar, according to a police report.
