SHEFFIELD TWP. — Lorain County Children Services was called to a home after all of the adults were arrested for a fight between a mother and her pregnant daughter.
Lorain County sheriff’s deputies were sent to an apartment on Berkshire Lane on Monday for a domestic violence complaint.
Deputies said Aletha Nichols, 41, accused her daughter, Laseanda Nichols, 20, of taunting her by calling her explicit names. Aletha said Laseanda, who was visiting the apartment with her 1- and 2-year old children, then punched her in the face and neck.
Laseanda Nichols’ boyfriend, Darius Cannon, attempted to break up the fight, according to a Lorain County sheriff’s report.
Laseanda Nichols denied starting the fight, telling deputies that her mother called her explicit names and then punched her in the face.
A deputy noted Laseanda Nichols had scratch marks on her face but no other injuries. The deputy noted that she is pregnant with her third child, but she refused medical treatment.
Both Laseanda and Aletha Nichols were charged with domestic violence, as they both had injuries. A records check showed that Laseanda Nichols has a protection order against Cannon, who said he assumed the protection order had expired.
Cannon was arrested for allegedly violating the order.
Lorain County Children Services was called to the home because all of the adults were taken to jail and were unable to care for the young children, according to the report.
