The 25th arrest has been made in an investigation into a drug trafficking ring that stretched around Lorain County and into parts of Cuyahoga County.
Jeffrey Denger, 38, of Norwalk, was served with a warrant for conspiracy about 2 p.m. Thursday at his parole officer’s office in Vermilion, according to Lorain police.
It is the 25th arrest made in an investigation conducted by Lorain police, Elyria police and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office into the drug trafficking organization.
Denger — like the 17 other people arrested this week for conspiracy — was one of the “smaller players” in the drug trafficking organization, which was headed by Wayne Norris, 27, of Elyria, according to police.
Norris and six other Lorain County residents were arrested the week before for their part as primary contributors to the organization, according to police. Lorain County Sheriff’s Deputy Dennis Cavanaugh said the seven arrested last week worked in a management capacity within the organization.
Denger was taken to the Lorain County Jail, where he was being held on a $1 million bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lorain Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Monday.
