Rethink Your Drink: UH Avon Chooses Water First

UH Avon Health Center got creative with their Water First for Thirst campaign.

UH Avon Health and Fitness Center kicked off their Water First for Thirst campaign this past summer. With 80 employees and over 30,000 fitness center visitors each month, this campaign had a large potential impact!

UH Avon employees used LCGHD’s downloadable Water First for Thirst toolkit to help them adapt promotional materials, post flyers, and send out public service announcements. They also launched a digital campaign, using social media posts and e-blasts. Finally, water pitchers and water dispensers put the “Water First” message at the forefront of everyone’s minds and increased visibility of water, the best beverage choice

UH Avon also included a challenge component in their campaign. The goal? To challenge participants to drink eight 8-oz. glasses of water every day. Participants received punch cards to track the amount of water they drank throughout the week, and they turned in their completed cards take a chance at winning some prizes. Here are the results of the campaign, by the numbers!

  • 87 people registered for the challenge.
  • 43 people turned in at least one punch card.
  • 32 participants turned in all three punch cards.
  • 7 out of 7 found the campaign beneficial to their knowledge of fluid intake.
  • 6 out of 7 increased their water intake based on the challenge requirement.
