Police suspect gun wound self-inflicted
ELYRIA — Elyria police said it appeared a woman shot herself when she suffered a gunshot wound Saturday evening in the parking lot of a Clark Street building.
Police were called to the parking lot of the two-story building at the corner of Clark and Prospect streets just after 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman who had shot herself.
Elyria police Lt. Andy Eichenlaub said it appeared the woman shot herself. She was taken by ambulance to EMH Regional Medical Center and then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland late Saturday.
A woman at Chris’ Place, a bar neighboring the building, said the woman walked into the bar just before the shooting and whispered something to a man inside the bar. The man and the woman then left, and the shooting occurred in the neighboring parking lot minutes later, the woman said.
Late Saturday, police were still interviewing the man who was with the victim. LifeCare paramedics and firefighters worked to stabilize the woman, who was found in the bed of a pickup in the parking lot.
Deputies investigate nude phone images
LAGRANGE TWP. — Sheriff’s deputies investigated a LaGrange Township mother’s report that her 12-year-old daughter was sending nude photos of herself via cell phone to a 14-year-old boy whom she had known from hanging out with friends, a sheriff deputy’s report said.
The girl’s mother called deputies on Wednesday after discovering a naked picture of her daughter on the girl’s cell phone. Deputies later discovered that the image was sent from a 14-year-old boy from a high school in Lorain County, the report said.
The girl admitted she sent the picture to the boy through her cell phone, and he had sent it back to verify that he received it.
However, deputies also discovered that the boy sent naked pictures of himself as well, the report said, adding that all the exchanges were via cell phone.
Deputies forwarded their investigation to Lorain County Juvenile Court for possible criminal charges of pandering obscenity.
