LORAIN — A Lorain couple was held up at gunpoint in their home and robbed of almost $750 in cash Monday evening.
According to Lorain police, the husband was lying on a couch in the living room of his home in the 2800 block of Fulmer Road around 5 p.m. when there was a knock at the door, then the unlocked door opened and a man walked in and pointed a black handgun at the husband’s head and said he wanted the rent money from the downstairs apartment.
When the husband said he didn’t have any money, police say the suspect took the man’s wallet and cell phone and ordered him to call his wife out from the bedroom.
The suspect pointed the gun at the woman when she walked into the room, and he ordered her to sit on the couch, again demanding money and saying he would shoot them if they didn’t comply, police said.
The woman gave him a pouch containing about $720 in collected rents. The suspect reportedly demanded more money, and the wife gave him her purse, which had about $26 in it.
The suspect, who was still at large Tuesday afternoon, then took off.
He was described as a black man around 28 years old, standing 5-feet, 9-inches tall with a stocky build wearing jeans and a black shirt with a gold design.
