Crash leaves 2 hurt, hundreds without power

HENRIETTA TWP. — Two people were injured and hundreds are without power following an accident between a semi and a car at Baumhart Road and state Route 113.

The accident, which was reported about 12:15 p.m., involved the semi and a dark-colored Honda Accord.

According to first responders, the male driver of the semi and the female driver of the car people were taken to Mercy Allen Hospital with noncritical injuries.

According to Ohio Edison's website, 501-2,000 homes and businesses in Amherst are currently without power, along with up to 500 homes and businesses each in Lorain, Elyria, Oberlin, Vermilion and Sheffield Lake. It is not known if all of those outages are due to the accident.

Ohio Edison workers at the scene said they were working to restore power and hoped to do so within a couple hours.
