CAMDEN TWP. — Police are searching for a suspect who reportedly stole 168 lottery tickets from Pit Stop Mini Mart on Saturday.
Police were sent to the business, 50470 U.S. Route 20, at 2 a.m. when the store’s alarm went off. Two workers at Green Circle Growers said they saw the suspect run into a field toward Baird Road.
A surveillance video showed the suspect try to enter Pit Stop through the front door at 1:16 a.m. The man then walked around to the window, breaking it with a sandstone block and reached in the window taking cigarettes. He then fled into a field nearby.
The video showed the man return at 1:38 a.m., when he crawled through the window of the store, took several lottery tickets from the counter and walked to the back of the store, setting off the alarm. Workers at Green Circle Growers said the suspect walked toward a service garage at the business and when they confronted him, he ran.
The witnesses said the man was carrying several lottery tickets in his arms. They described him as a 40- to 50-year-old white male, clean-shaven with blondish-brown hair.
Lorain County Sheriff’s deputies recovered several of the lottery tickets. Lorain County Sheriff detectives are investigating the incident.
