ELYRIA — A woman living in apartments on 300 Washington Ave. told police her apartment was shot at after she found a small hole in her ceiling.
Police were sent to the area at 1:48 a.m. today after reports of shots fired in the area. Officers located a .45-caliber magazine, seven rounds of .45 Federal brand spent ammunition and two spent .45-caliber Blazer brand shell casings.
Police were unable to locate any suspects, according to a police report, but the casings were taken as evidence.
Police met with a 27-year-old woman, who lived in apartments nearby and said her apartment had been fired at.
The woman told police she heard gunshots at around 1:48 a.m. and later found a small hole in her ceiling and debris on her floor that was not there before. The woman could not provide a description of the shooters, and said she couldn’t immediately call police because she was waiting for her cell phone to turn back on at the time of the shooting.
Officers located a hole on the outside door of the woman’s apartment and in her ceiling, but they did not find any casings inside the apartment.
The case was closed due to lack of evidence pending further investigation, according to the report.
