Burglars again hit Elyria American Legion post

ELYRIA — The American Legion Post 12 has been burglarized again.

The break-in, reported around 1 a.m. Sunday, was the third this month and again involved a hole made in drywall to enter the legion business office at 393 Ohio St.

Darell Bishop, legion fiscal officer and the father of Chronicle-Telegram Chief Photographer Bruce Bishop, said nothing appeared to be stolen, according to a police report. A few thousand dollars was stolen in each of the first two burglaries.

The first was reported Nov. 2 and the second was reported on Nov. 11. Bishop said in an interview that newly installed motion detectors in the office may have scared the burglar away.
