LORAIN — A Lorain man with a history of violence is accused of severely beating his girlfriend Tuesday in their apartment in the 1400 block of Herbert Drive.
Alana Terry’s eyes were swollen shut from allegedly being beaten, she had marks on her neck from being choked, knots on her forehead, scratches on her face and bite marks on her right hand, according to a police report. Terry said when she returned home around 1 p.m., Donte McGill confronted her over pictures of men on her Facebook page.
Terry, 27, said McGill repeatedly slapped, punched and kicked her, and she passed out during the alleged attack, which she estimated lasted 45 minutes or longer. Terry said McGill refused to let her leave the apartment, and she tried to take care of her wounds herself until they went grocery shopping together.
Terry said she later escaped around 5:10 p.m. when McGill went to pick up their three children from school. McGill, 27, has an extensive criminal record including convictions for aggravated assault, attempted abduction, domestic violence and attempted intimidation.
Police on Tuesday were searching for McGill, and he remained free Thursday night.
