Police ID man shot and killed overnight, seek suspect

ELYRIA — Police have identified the man shot and killed Sunday night as 48-year-old Anthony Coats and are seeking a man they believe to be the shooter.

Tove Adams, 42, is facing murder and felonious assault charges in connection with the shooting of Coats, who was found wounded inside a vehicle that had crashed into an electrical utility box in the area of Lake Avenue and West River Road around 10:49 p.m.

Coats was taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center, where he died.
