6:15 p.m. — East Broad Street near Park Avenue, Jeffrey Gorlitz, 36, Strongsville, arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for an expired license plate. Gorlitz was driving with an expired registration, according to police who said they found a Percocet pill and a small amount of marijuana on him when they stopped Gorlitz.
6:40 p.m. — Family Dollar, 401 Lake Ave., Catherine Cannon, 51, 500 block Washington Ave., Elyria, arrested and charged with theft and obstructing official business. Cannon is accused of shoplifting socks from the store and then running when confronted. Police said she gave a false name when they stopped her.
Sunday, July 7
4:39 a.m. — 500 block Ironwood Court, Terry Cannon, 19, 200 block Eighth St., Elyria, arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Cannon was stopped in a car reported stolen, according to police. Cannon said he gave the driver $40 to borrow the car.
