ELYRIA — Asim Taylor, the man barred from having more children as a condition of his probation on criminal nonsupport of dependents, has been ordered to pay at least $1,700 in back child support by Oct. 16.
Lorain County Probate Judge James Walther said that he approved the order Wednesday that had already been agreed to by Taylor’s lawyer and prosecutors.
Earlier this year, Walther barred Taylor from having any more children until he becomes current on the back child support obligations. The charges he pleaded guilty to late last year accused Taylor of owing nearly $100,000 in child support to four children.
Doug Merrill, Taylor’s attorney, has appealed Walther’s order, arguing that it violates the basic human right to procreate.
