WELLINGTON — A 23-year-old resident was arrested after allegations that he “headbutted” a woman and spit on her after a night of drinking while watching a Cleveland Indians game.
Police were called at 12:13 a.m. Thursday to the 300 block of South Walden Lane. Officers arrived and arrested Jason Remines, the alleged attacker.
Elizabeth Moore told police that Remines arrived home at 11:30 p.m. after drinking at a neighbor’s house while watching the game. She said Remines was upset because she did not want to get close to him when he came home.
Moore told police that Remines yelled at her, calling her several vulgar names, and he spit on her and head butted her. Remines then allegedly choked Moore, telling her that he would not stop “until she was dead” while the two were outside of the home, according to a police report.
A passer-by told police she witnessed Remines pinning Moore on the ground, accusing her of cheating on him. She said Remines then tried to coach Moore on what to tell police.
Remines, who police said was initially cooperative with police, was arrested and charged with domestic violence. He denied striking Moore.
Remines was taken to Mercy Allen Hospital for a hand injury and later to Lorain County Jail, and an ambulance arrived at the South Walden Lane home to check Moore for a possible broken nose, police said.
