LORAIN — Christine Ashley is no clueless do-gooder.
An Army veteran and ex-Elyria policewoman, the Elyria resident has seen the harsher side of life and the numbing shock felt by people who lose everything.
With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, Ashley wants to take a group of volunteers to areas struck by this past weekend’s tornadoes in Indiana and Illinois.
“This is in the very early stages, and that’s why I wanted to get the word out,” Ashley said Tuesday. “We’ve got to get plans in place within the next two weeks to be there by Thanksgiving.”
Anyone who would like more information or is interested in joining or donating to Ashley’s relief mission may call (440) 567-6531.
“We just want these people to know that where everything is negative, there’s help and people willing to help,” Ashley said. “There’s love in the world.”
