ELYRIA — The backed-up traffic after a two-car crash Saturday resulted in another rollover crash 30 minutes later.
About 7:30 p.m,. Virginia Ottenson, 61, was driving eastbound on I-90 near state Route 57 when she was hit from behind by another vehicle, according to Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Ryan Pischel. Although the crash caused no major injuries, traffic was backed up on the highway for at least 30 minutes. While officers were assessing the first crash, the traffic jam resulted in another accident just feet away.
About 8 p.m., Harvey Pratt Jr., 44, was stopped in traffic in his Jeep Liberty on I-90 near the Ohio Turnpike when he was hit from behind by Daniel Ferguson, 33, who was driving a pickup with his wife and child inside. The force of the crash caused Pratt to hit the pickup in front of him before rolling over once onto the median, according to the patrol. No serious injuries were sustained in the second crash, although Pratt and Ferguson’s wife and child were taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center as a precaution.
According to patrol officers, Ferguson’s truck had damage to its front and Pratt’s Jeep sustained extensive damage.
